University of Minho was the home of ECIS 2017, the European Conference on Information Systems (AIS), being organized with a strong participation of ISTTOS researchers.

Home of CAPSI 2017

University of Minho was also the home of CAPSI 2017, which was organized by ISTTOS.

Research Project STAR4IST

The research group ISTTOS/University of Minho, in a partnership with United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-driven Governance (UNU-EGOV), is defining the project “STAR4IST - Success, Theory, Action and Risk for Information Systems and Technologies” (www.star4ist.com), in the scope of the FCT - Call for Research Projects in all Scientific Domains.

Research Group

ISTTOS group focus on understanding the adoption, use and exploration of IT in organizational/social contexts and on developing grounded design knowledge (e.g., methods, techniques, tools) for the activities of IST professionals (mainly, designers of human activity systems that aim at realizing the benefits of IT and managers of IT-related resources that aim at assuring that IT resources contribute to the well-being of the embracing human activity systems). Due to the nature of its R&D objects, ISTTOS research is typically multidisciplinary often depending on combinations of research methods and approaches from the social sciences and from technical areas.

Research Line

ISTTOS is one of the groups of the Information Systems and Technology (IST) R&D line, together with the Intelligent Data Systems (IDS) and the Software-based Information Systems Engineering and Management (SEMAG) groups. Their general purpose is to generate, disseminate and apply scientific and technological knowledge, contributing to extend the frontiers of knowledge within the IST domain, and to promote economic and social development. Academic activities include: fundamental and applied research relevant to the IST domain; cooperation with international leading research groups; cooperation with practitioners, industry and organizations in general partners to improve IST professional practices and to increase organizational wee-being; advanced research training at MSc and PhD levels.

Research Centre

Centro ALGORITMI is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho that develops R&D activity in information and communications technologies and in electronics. Besides the IST R&D Line, ALGORITMI also has R&D activities in: computer science and technology, computer communications and pervasive media, industrial engineering and management, systems engineering and operational research, industrial electronics.
